Rivera Court iPad App at the Detroit Institute of Arts

With one of the first ever Museum iPad apps created by GuideOne and audio content created by Acoustiguide, the DIA now offers visitors interactive audio tours of the Diego Rivera Murals on a rented iPad.

This app is an update of a tour that GuideOne created
(as Sourcelab) in 2007, also in conjunction with Acoustiguide, on Nokia touch devices. In this update we created a native iPad app that offers a vastly improved user experience. The app features 5 thematic tours and also allows users to click on wall details to get narration, stories and visual materials that help visitors get deeper into the history and meaning of the murals.

Features:

Audio tours that feature images, video and animation
Clickable image hotspots
Interface and content in English and Spanish
Facebook and twitter sharing

Craig Rademacher wrote a great article about the experience of the app on his New Media in Interpretation blog where he added:
"Many visitors spent a good deal of time in the Rivera Hall simply because of this mobile device and the story it held."
